Is Surgery Necessary To Remove Gall Bladder Stones?
I have a 1.8 cm gallstone and 2 doctors are recommending surgery to remove my gall bladder. Is that really necessary? I m 69 yrs. old and female. No other health problems. No inflammation of the gall bladder, only occasionally shooting pain low in the middle between the breasts that may last about 5 minutes. And that happens only occasionally. I do get some symptoms like heartburn, but am taking pantoprozole so that should eliminate stomach problems. I assume that problem is from the gall bladder. Is that right? Thanks for your help.
Hello ma'am I appreciate your concern 1.8 cm stone is quite a large stone a day there are possibilities that it may get complicated in future it may dislodge in bile duct and can produce obstructive jaundice and other complications
So it's better to remove at this stage it can be removed by laproscopic cholecystectomy
You need mot to worry its very common complication in your age group of ladies yes, you are right gall stone may be contributory factor in heartburn and other related digestive problems
I would advise you to avoid fatty fried spicy and junk food or carbonated drinks you can continue with antacids and pantoprazole
Hope this answers your question thanks and regards
