Is Surgery Needed For The Removal Of A Large Splenic Cyst?

Hello, my name is Dalton. Recently I was told that I have a large splenic cyst that was found incidentally due to a vigorous workout that had me urinating blood afterwards. Now, the surgeon I met with wasn t the most pleasant man. I have a doctors appointment to go over some things next week but I m told that the surgery can be risky or cause complications. I m a physical 24 year man that s off work due to this issue. The longer I m off without benefits the more likely I will lose my job. What should I do?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The splenic cyst may have to be removed if the size is big enough. The spleen is a very vascular organ thus splenic surgery can lead to bleeding. However, sufficient blood as back up can help in case bleeding occurs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
