Is Surgery Required For A Stone In Left Vesucoureteric Junction When On Tramadol And What Are Its Side Effects?
my sister ... age 22.. has a stone in left vesicoureteric junction... size of stone is 4.6mm.... shes under medication and our family doctor says that it will come out naturally... she is been given painkillers since 3 days... tramadol now and boscopan two days ago... she has terrible pain... is surgery required? will these painkillers have any side effects? how long will it take to pass the stone naturally???
Surgery is not required if there is no urine obstruction which can cause kidney damage. Such stone can come out without medical attention. However is she is unable to take this pain, and nothing is changing, she may consult urologist and have cystoscopy (ureteroscopy precisely) to remove the stone. It is not a surgery, but a type of test where a thin scope is inserted through the urethra and bladder to ureter. Mentioned pain killers in regular dosages should not cause any problems. It is hard to tell when and if this stone will pass. Please consult urologist.
Hope this will help. Regards.
