General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
1) what was symptoms for which he required hospitalization?
2) If necrosis of bowel due to reduced blood supply (irreversible changes) then surgery would be recommended when general condition of patient can not be maintained by IV medications, as necrosis involve larger segment of bowel in such condition and removal of such large segment is not advisable (short bowel syndrome after surgery)
3) If necrosis of bowel due to infection, then decision of surgery should be made according to spread of infection, but should be done as soon as possible to prevent spread of infection.
