hi,
do you sweat in some parts like your palms or under arms or have generalized sweating???
Most common causes of sweating are-
Hyperthyroidism, Hypoglycemia, Anxiety, Stress, Tuberculosis, Obesity, Some Cardiac Conditions, Drugs Like Beta Blockers-Metoprolol, Antidepressants.
I had 1 patients who was only on Metoprolol and had complaints of sweating. I had almost ran all the tests like- Thyroid Function Tests, Tests to Rule Out Diabetes, Uric Acid, Tests to Rule out Tuberculosis, Ultrasound and Catecholamimes to Rule out a condition called Peochromocytoma but all were negative.
(Would Recommend that you to take the above tests). Stopped his Metoprolol but that to didn't work.
So was diagnosed to have Primary Focal Hyperhidrosis since he has sweating only in his palms.
For Primary Focal Hyperhidrosis the treatment would include drug containing Aluminum Choloride Hexahydrate- It is to be applied locally & should be applied at night on dry skin until a positive result is obtained, after which the intervals between applications may be lengthened. To minimize irritation, the remainder of the medication should be washed off when the patient wakes up, if irritation persists the area may be neutralized with the topical application of baking soda.
There are also a few Systemic drugs but it's not recommended due to its adverse effects.
I find this answer helpful
