Is Sweating And Chest Pain With Low Grade Fever Cause For Concern?

My 28 year old son has been sweating, hot flashes, low grade temperature and has pain in his chest. He is a smoker and always has a dry cough. He found and took a prednisone pill this morning that made his chest feel better. Tonight he had an incident of his heart racing. He is anxious and a little panicky that something is seriously wrong. He also smoked a little weed tonight so I do not know if there was anything in it that could have caused the racing heart. What should we do tonight? Should we wait to see his pcp tomorrow?

Hi,
There are some conditions that may cause sweating, hot flashes and low grade temperature. Some of them are infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and brucellosis and some are milder such as flu.
I would recommend to have some blood tests done, to see for any sign of infection, but the best thing to do is to see an Infectionist.
