Is Swelling In Preauricular Lymph Node Due To Dental Infection?

Hey, I recently noticed that I have what I believe to be a swollen periauricular lymph node. For my history, I had scoliosis in 2010 and had an infection that required an emergency surgery in 2012. I recently had a dental cleaning and I am worried that this could be an infection related to this.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swelling in the preauricular lymph node that is lymph node infront of the ear can get inflamed and swollen due to infection in head and neck region and can occur due to infection in teeth, ears etc.
But dental cleaning is a process of clearing of the infection and it is generally not seen to cause infection in the preauricular lymph nodes.

I would suggest you to consult a General Physician or an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and you can be advised a course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkiller can help in resolution..
In case if it does not resolve then a biopsy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
