Is Swelling On The Eyelid Of A Child A Cause For Concern?

Hi My son had an accident at school today where he fell and hurt his eyebrow, causing the area around the eyebrow including the eyelid to swell up. He was seen by the paramedics and they said he is fine and to check for signs of concussion. He doesn t have any signs of concussion however the swelling on his eyelid has gotten worse, should I be worried? When will the swelling start going down?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling on the eyelid of your child. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like eye allergies , conjunctivitis , styes , chalazion or injuries . I would suggest you to consult opthmologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory . For now keep it clean and in dust free environment and also apply warm compresses gently .
