Is Swimming Safe While Suffering From Ringworm Infection?

I think I have developed ringworm on my arm. Our rescued year old dog has been on oral mess for a month as well lamisil to affected areas for past month. Am wondering if I need oral melds or if lamisil is enough? Also I swim in a salt water pool. Is it alright to continue swimming?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Ringworm infections are caused by fungi. Swimming pool environments, such as pool decks and showers, may provide favourable transmission conditions for ringworm infections.

So swimming in a pool should be avoided if you have ringworm infection. An ointment containing clotrimazole, beclomethasone and gentamicin should be applied to the affected area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
