Is Switching From Cerazette To Diane 35 Advisable?

Hi, i took cerazette for almost two months. I became moody and i experience cramps and pain so i decided to stop taking it. I m off for a week. I decided to switch to Diane 35. Just yesterday my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex then i started taking Diane 35 this morning. May i know the effects it has on me? Plus until when shall i have protected sex?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Cerazette is composed of 'Desogestrel', which is a progestin medication and is used as birth control pills. Diane-35 tablets is composed of Cyproterone acetate and Ethinyloestradiol, and is used as oral contraceptive pill. These contraceptive pills need to be taken continuously as per the schedule at same time of the day as provided in the instructions. In case you miss a tablet, you need to take it as early as possible, but use additional contraceptives like condom and spermicidal agents until you get your periods. Also, whenever you change from one oral contraceptive to another, with a break period in between, you need to use additional contraceptives like condom and spermicidal agents for at least 2 weeks or until you get your periods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
