General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

Warfarin is an anticoagulant and it's main function is to prevent blood from clotting.

After an open heart surgery, it is vital to keep the blood thin enough to prevent complications resulting from blood clots.
For this reason, the INR is usually maintained above 2. (bet 2-2.5).
As your values are still below the expected level, you have been advised to take 3mg.
Please do so, as advised by your doctor. Your blood will be checked again to see if the values are in the expected range.

If you have any prolonged bleeding problems, please inform your cardiologist right away.

A note of caution : always take medications, change dosages and maintain follow ups as advised by your treating doctor. Never do this on your own.
Thank you for trusting us with your query.

Hope this helps.
Please let me know is there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
