Is Swollen And Reddish Lower Leg Post Injury Suggestive Of Blood Clot?

My son in law has been hit repeatedly on same lower leg during baseball . It s swollen reddish in color and skin looks like a sausage ready to explode. Should we be concerned of blood clot ? This is over and over over last year I m concerned he stubborn

Hello,
Yes you should be concerned. There are a number of things that could be going on and he really needs to get seen right away. My biggest concern is for something called compartment syndrome. This is when there is bleeding into a closed space in the muscle. If he has this and does not get it treated he could even lose his leg. Please try to get him to a doctor soon.
