Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a swollen labia for nearly five days now. I have also been diagnosed with herpes hsv1 and the doctor told me that it was a primary outbreak and that was why my body was reacting in the way it was. Is a swollen labia a symptom of herpes? Is there anything I can do to reduce the swelling? How long should this persist?
Hello and welcome to HCM, herpes simplex infection is characterised by formation of fluid filled vesicles on labia majora. These vesicles are usually confluent and painful. These vesicles may even ulcerate to form painful raw area. Type 2 herpes affects the genitalia and not type 1. I would suggest you to take another opinion regarding these symptoms. Treatment can be planned after clinical assessment.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
