Is Taking Amoxicillin Safe For Treatment Of Acute Bronchitis?

I was recently prescribed Amoxicillin for what they said was acute bronchitis at the urgent care... they did not tell me weather it was viral or bacterial... I m debating on whether I should take it or not. I m also taking Mucinex 600 2x a day... they did not perform any other test or blood work only listened to my lungs... should I take the antibiotic or not?

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.

It is safe however it is questionable if this efficient will be since there may be resistant bacteria causing bronchitis In most cases, azytromycin is better option but amoxicilin may work as ell and you should see improvement after 2-3 days.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
