Is Taking Dicynone Necessary Before A Pelvic Scan?
Hi there, I had my period in the 18th of Oct. and to begin with the birth control pill, had taken it at the start of my period (same day). My period slows down and until now I still have mg period.Doctor prescribe me with Dicynone 500mg 3x a day. I have taken 2 tabs of Dicynone so far and am having my complete pelvis scan. Is it nevessary for me to take Dicynone? And Would my period affect the scan? Thank you.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. ...Pelvic scan involves detection of any abnormality in uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries &all other organs that lie in pelvic cavity....that may cause bleeding irregularity you have. Dicynone is drug to stop excessive bleeding..it just stops the /reduces bleeding &does not affect functioning of any of pelvic organ... So thw drug os not likely to intetfere theresults of scanning nor it is essential for scanning...it was given to control bleeding &help more weakness it's likely to cause &also eases the procedure . Thanks.
