Is Taking Escitalopram Safe Instead Of Citalopram?

Hello Dr. Recently my Dr. put me on escitalopram/oxalate. How does this drug differ from citalopram.I was on citalopram a couple of years ago, and my Dr. thought it was no longer working. So then she put me on Venlafaxine. Four days ago she took me off venlafaxine and put me on escitalopram. The last 4 days I have felt REAL crummy. Thanks for your answer. W. McKelvie

Escitalopram is in the group of 'selective serotonine reuptake inhibitors',that is used for treatment of major depression.Compared with citalopram,escitalopram is more effective in depression.It has higher response rate than citalopram.So citalopram was no more efficient to you and the doctor change it to escitalopram,in a medication more efficient.
