My 16 year old son with cerebral palsy was prescribed Clonidine Hydrochloride ER to use in combination with Focalin for his ADD type symptoms. His pediatrician is hoping this may alleviate his loss of appetite from taking the stimulant. However, we are concerned as we read about side effects and drug interactions because of his medical history, including strokes in-utero and other damage that occurred during TTTS with their demised triplet. We feel he could be vulnerable to some of the high risk side effects. He is high functioning with spastic hemiplegic cp. We worry that he tires easily just getting around a large high school, unable to consume enough calories to sustain his energy level, weight, and ability to function well in his more technical subjects. There is a 30+ pound weight differential with his twin brother. I m not finding much about the interaction or negative side effects with stroke patients. Please advise. Thank you, Lisa Stacey
