Is Taking Meftal-P 4ml Safe Between Two Dosages Of Paracetamol?
Hi, My 4.5 year old kid has high fever due to stomach infection. Doc has prescribed Fevago DS (250mg paracetamol) 4ml to control fever. Interval between two doses are 6 hours but fever starts coming after 3.5 hours. Usually we do sponging but this time fever is at 103.1F. Is it safe to give dose of Meftal-p 4ml if fever comes inbetween two dosages of paracetamol? It has been suggested by one paediatric doc (he is not our regular doc). How safe is Meftal-p for my kid for high fever inbetween two dosages of paracetamol? Thanks, Vijay
* As per my clinical experience, an additional dose of meftal P can be given in between the regular doses of paracetamol for high-grade fever above 102 without any side effects.
* But it should not be repeated for more than twice a day to avoid liver damage.
* Basic necessity would be antibiotic coverage for infection control, tepid sponging and supportive care for an earliest and speedy recovery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
