General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hello,
Albendazole /Zentel taking during pregnancy is contraindicated. It is found to cause teratogenic & fetal abnormality.
But if it is very essential to give, treating doctor would weigh between advantages&side effects & can prescribe it even in pregnancy.
A careful follow up is essential in such cases to note bad side effects with the termination of pregnancy if needful.
You should, therefore, be in regular contact with your gynecologist &follow the advise given.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
