Is Taking Marcaine Injection Along With Atenolol And Beta Blocker For Peripheral Neuropathy Recommended?
Total Health Care has offered to help with Peripheral Neuropathy numbness in my toes feet and ankles. There procedure is Marcaine injections, five in each ankle then a combined electrol chemical therapy for 20minutes, twice a week for 8weeks. I have a fib, abnormal heart beat, also a mechanical mitrol valve since August 1998, also Atenolol which is a Beta Blocker , is Marcaine safe for me or would it increase my heart beat? I am also on blood thinner so injections scare me. What is your advise?
Hi, Marcaine wil be safe at the correct dosage despite your medical issues. It will not affect your heart. You may need to stop your blood thinner medication prior to the procedure but you will need to confirm this with the doctor. Regards, Dr K A Pottknger, MBChB. FRCA
