Is Tattooing Safe After A Cardiac Arrest?

Hi. I am about to turn 50 and I want to get a small tattoo on my inner wrist. I am female. Two years ago I had a cardiac arrest due to long qt syndrome. I had a pacemaker/defribulator inserted at the time. I take half a Noten tablet every day. I haven t had any problems since. Is it safe to get the tattoo done? Thanks for your time

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Definitely, I would not approve of it as, the pain during tattooing could be too much for the heart to handle, especially after a cardiac arrest. There is also a risk of infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Haleema Yezdani, General & Family Physician
