Is Termination Only Option For A Fetus With Micrognathia Condition?
During my ultrasound, my unborn baby has been diagnosed with micrognathia - although still possibility of a "normal" small chin. Everything else seems good. However, I have been offered amnio, and also an option to terminate! Why would the termination be a option for a small deformaty with which you can live a full and seemingly a healthy life with? I am now worried there are high risks of other disorders that are not measurable, and would like to know my chances of having a "healthy" child with a small chin. Any light on the issue?
Hello, it is always better to go for termination of pregnancy rather than giving birth of a deformed baby. there is no cure for this condition, so only option is to termination or you can give birth to deformed baby, which will be life long condition. There are always more chances of other deformity, so you can take a chance and go for amniocentesis and after that you can take risk of giving birth to baby, which may be normal otherwise or may be deformed, because it will not detect all kind of deformity. So my advise to you is to terminate the pregnancy rather than getting emotional and taking risk of giving birth of baby, which might be deformed.
