I m taking microbiology and am learning about pseudomonas aeruginosa . I know this bactera lives in water and soap scum alot. I was just wondering if it is a bad bacteria to have in your vaginal area, or your mouth or in your body, or if it is a harmful bacteria to your body. I wasn t sure if in the shower you should be careful about getting pseudomonas aeruginosa in your vagina.
Hi Dacia,
Welcome to healthcare Magic!
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a bad bacteria if is there in the vagina, and it also points to another bad accompaniments that local hygiene of vagina is also bad and your immunity is also dwindling.
Pseudomonas are saprophytic class of pathogens and would not be able to grow in presence of normal immunity and normal commensals in mouth and vagina; Even if they are present in the water or food.
Once these protective barriers give way it can be an aggressive attacker because it has inherent resistance to many antibiotics and can acquire resistance readily.
Wish you a great health!
