Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is The Bouts Of Depression And Anxiety A Sign Of Bipolar Disorder?
My 25 year old daughter was diagnosed 4 years ago with bipolar disorder. She does have her bouts with depression and anxiety and it poses a problem with her jobs, but I have never seen the manic or the mania. She seems to be getting depressed more often. She is taking fluxotine and lamogtrigine. I'm not sure if he has the right diagnosis. Depression yes, but do you have to have bipolar if you are depressed. When she is not depressed and feeling sad, she is just her normal happy self.
I went through your details. I suggest you not to worry much. There are two aspects. The medicines could be the reason. The manic or hyper active episodes declined and she is more on the depression side of the bi-polar disorder. In that case, change of medicine should be of help. The diagnoses needs to be rechecked. You can administer bi-polar disorder questionnaire to your daughter and find. Anyway meet your psychiatrist for better assessment.
Please post a direct question to me in this website. Make sure that you include every minute details possible. I shall prescribe some psychotherapy techniques which should help you cure your condition.
Hope this answers your query. Available for further clarifications. Good luck.
