Is The Bruise Behind Infant's Ear A Cause Of Worry? Why Haven't Antibiotics Worked?

I noticed a bruise behind my 5 month old son's ear. It started off as a tiny bruise butnow, it oozes. I've taken him to his pediatrician who has prescribed antibiotics both oral and topical and said by the 3rd day, I should see results. I'm now on the 8th day and no improvement. It still looks the same. My son has no symptoms,he is happy and great but I'm concerned. Any ideas please?

Your son has a condition called Complicated Otitis Media. Its basically a complicated infection of his ear. Your pediatrician has prescribed the first line antibiotics which haven't worked.
If were his treating physician I would now take a swab of the pus and perform culture and sensitivity test on it
Change the antibiotic to Augmentin and then wait to see if the infection resolves in the next 7 days..
If not then I would refer you to an ENT specialist who would go for ear surgery called mastoidectomy
