Is The Darkening Of Skin On Forehead Due To Lack Of Rest Or Stress?

I see slight darkening of my forehead above my eye brows similar to dark circles below the eyes due to lack of enough rest. Is this due to stress as well? I have also seen such darkening when I put on weight as was the case a few years ago. Please advice..
