Is The Levest Combined Pill Effective 7 Days After Taking It?

Hi, I recently went to the family planning clinic and got the levest oral combined contraceptive pill. I started taking this at the middle/end of my cycle so I was well out of the 1-5 days it's reccomended to be taken in (for it to work immediately), on the NHS website It says that if the combined pill is started at any time in the cycle it will be effective after 7 days of pill taking, is this true for the levest combined pill? I am currently on my 8th day of pill taking.

Dear member,
Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
As you mentioned yourself that it was late in the cycle to start the pill. It also depends whether you were sexually active in that cycle. If you had intercourse and have already conceived then there is no way of knowing it till you miss your period.
This cycle you will have delayed period as you have started the pill late.
I would recommend that you use barrier contraception this cycle and check for pregnancy if you were sexually active last cycle.
Thanks
