Is The Pain And Bruise In Hip Due To Healing After An Injury?

I fell off of a boat and hit my butt and the back of my thigh. It has been a week and a half and it s still hard under the bruise on my thigh especially. There is a dent in my rear. It is still painful and it hurts in my hip to cross my legs, etc. Should I be concerned or is it still healing?

Hello,

This looks like a muscle Injury and will take some time to heal. you should use crepe bandage or knee cap for giving support to the muscle so there are fewer contractions in the muscle.

Doing icing if you aren't diabetic will help reduce pain but don't start walking jumping or running suddenly as soon as the pain comes down with icing as this may lead to further damage.

Wait for the 2-3 week of time and then see if you feel better. In case the hard area in the back of the thigh doesn't become soft then do a hot water fermentation to release the muscle tightness and allow the limb to rest for recovering.

In my clinical practice of 12 years, most muscle Injuries respond sell to conservative therapy. post this exercises with low intensity to improve the strength in the muscles and go back to ADL.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Hi,

Any such bump or swelling or indentation following is due to injury and bleeding in subcutaneous tissue. This bleeding will take 2-6 weeks to subside.

In the meantime, you can take mild pain killers, apply local heat and wait for the swelling to disappear.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
