Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is The Sharp Pain Above My Left Breast Related To Heart?
Hello, I am a 53 year old overweight female. I woke yesterday morning in an uncomfortable hotel bed feeling as if I had pulled muscle in my left shoulder/armpit area. The sharp pain seems to be worsening, as i can feel it now when i am not moving, and it worsens if I breathe deeply. If I touch a certain spot just above my left breast, it feels as if I am touching a bruise. Anything to worry about heart-wise? Thank you.
Any pain over the chest, the first thing to be ruled out is the Heart. If you are Overweight/>50 and having chest pain, you SHOULD GET YOURSELF CHECKED before assuming anything.
If the evaluation for Heart (EKG) comes to be normal, the other possibilities could include Muscle Sprain, soft tissue infections etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
