Is The Single Red Spot On My Penis Resembling Trauma And A Matter Of Concern?

Hi. I have a single red rod at the glans of my penis. I noticed it yesterday during masturbation because it felt sore. Throughout the day yesterday it felt sore a couple of times but I brushed it off because I have a habit of crossing my legs. The red dot is not itchy, it s not bumy, no fluid comes of out it, since yesterday it hasn t spread, when I touched it with a finger it didn t hurt. I haven t had sex so I doubt it s STD. It looks like a burnt off skin, like when we were kids and we would burn our knees on a plastic slide. Its around 1mm big(it s more of a line in appereance than a circle). Could it just be trauma from somewhere and I just can t remember it?

Hello,

Wear soft loose-fitting cotton clothes so that there is no friction between the clothes and penis. Your symptoms are indicative of balanitis or contact dermatitis. Get clinically examined by a urologist. Balanitis needs antibiotics or antifungals as treatment. It could occur due to fungal or bacterial infection, lack of hygiene, injury or trauma. Apply ointment hydrocortisone on the area affected to prevent itching. If fungal infection is detected, applying Miconazole or Fluconazole works effectively. Take care of your hygiene.

Contact dermatitis can also cause similar symptoms, avoid the use of harsh body products, soaps or lotions, latex, spermicides that are irritating the skin of the glans. Applying topical corticosteroid creams work effectively. To be on the safer side you can get STD tests done. If tests are positive, you will be treated with antivirals/antibiotics.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
