Is The Switchover From Dilantin And Clonazepam A Good Decision?

I am 61 and have occasional nocturnal seizures for 30 years. My PCP s have always prescribed Dilantin. It has controlled but not eliminated my seizures. I went to a neurologist for the first time this week and she prescribed clonazepam. The literature on it has me nervous. I know that Dilantin has many possible side effects, but I know that loss of bone density is the only one I ve suffered. Is switching to clonazepam really the best decision. She wants me to take this in addition to Keppra.

Hello,

Dilantin has many side effects on long term and now a days we have the luxury of better drugs with lesser side effects, clonazepam being one of them. You can safely switch over to this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
