Is There A Chance Of Broken Fingers If Its Swollen And Bruise?

Hello, I am curious about a bruise my son sustained while he was paintballing the other day. He got a direct hit to his finger and it has swelled and bruised but there is a blantant white centre where he was hit. The pain is worse now (48 hours later) than the day of the accident. Could it be broken?

Hi,
The answer is that definitely an x ray needs to be taken to rule out fracture. There wil definitely be soft tissue injury ( be it ligament / tendon ) .IF the injury was to tip of the finger when the finger was extended , even rupture of tendon causing a mallet finger is a possibility.

but x ray has no alternative in this case.
