Is There A Difference Between Atorvastatin And Atorvastatin Calcium?
Yes, is there a difference between Atorvastatin and Atorvastatin Calcium? My last prescription bottle just says Atorvastatin , and I just refilled it . Got home and realized the new bottle says Atorvastatin Calcium. Is it the same thing? It is 20 mg. - Pharmeceutical Co. Says APOT . Thanks
There is no difference between the two brands of the same drug.
Atorvastatin calcium contains an excipient (inactive ingredient in the form of calcium carbonate). It is equally effective in reducing the high cholesterol and hence can be used instead of Atorvastatin.
Hope this answers your query.
