Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is There A Permanent Cure For Chronic Osteomyelitis?
I have chronic osteomyelitis in my calcaneus rt. foot. they ve done surgery twice in last 7 months to scrape the bone since it hasn t gone away. 12 weeks of vanc thru picc line first time now on for 8 weeks of vanc along with cipro. can this spread to other bones? and can it ever be considered cured?
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you are suffering from chronic osteomyelitis of calcanium of your foot. Complete cleaning (debridement) of bones may lead to near complete cure. But theoretically chronic osteomyelitis can reoccur any time.It is unlikely it affects another bone in the body. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
