Is There A Prescription For Antidepressants That Do Not Result In Stomach Pain Caused By Fluvoxamine And Zyprexa?

My daughter takes 300mg of fluvoxamine a day. Recently she was getting aggreviated over everything. She is 28 yrs old and has taken zyprexa also since she was 15. We have tried to add another antidepressant with her doctor. Is there an antidepressant that would not cause extreme stomach aches?

Greetings !

Wellbutrin xl ( generic name -- bupropion extended release) at dose of 75-300 mg / day can help your daughter to fight against depression without causing stomach ache which is commonly seen with ssri class drugs like fluvoxamine.

Another alternative drug that can be used in place of fluvoxamine for depresson is remeron ( generic name -- mirtazapine) at dose of 15-45 mg / day.

So the above two mentioned anti depressants are both effective choices for managing depression and they do not cause gastrointestinal side effects like stomach ache.

I hope this helps.

Regards
