Is There A Surgery To Get The Lost Eye Sight Back Due To Papilledema ?

Hi, my daughter just found out she has papilledema, she is 30 years old with to small children. She does take blood pressure meds. and she is overweight. She has an appointment with a neurologist on Thrusday. She has one that she can not see hardly at all and the other that is not has bad. I was wondering if she does go completely blind if there is a surgery or anything that will get her eye sight back? Thank-you. Sharon

Hello
It seems from the history that your daughter is having papilledema probably because of idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
There is no treatment to optic nerve damage which leads to vision loss. The optic nerve is the only cranial nerve in our body which cannot regenerate once damaged, hence there is no treatment to these diseases and vision loss is permanent.
The only way to prevent loss of vision is by adequate treatment of the underlying cause in your daughter's case treatment of papilledema.

Thank you
