What Are The Brain Surgery Risk?

my son has been having severe headaches and the CT Scan showed a 4cm mass behind his right eye with spreading and swelling of the right frontal lobe. Now he is on anti-inflammation medication to decrease the swelling, then he will go to surgery for removal and biopsy of the mass. What are the risks of the surgery and is any brain damage possible?
