Is There A Way To Dissolve Surgical Stitches After A Radical Orchiectomy Surgery?

I had left radical orchiectomy surgery 3 weeks ago. The surgical glue finally sloughed off this week. Now I can see that the end of one of the dissolvable sutures is sticking out from the forming scar. Clearly not dissolved, and it’s also clearly still attached. It’s annoying knowing it is there. Is there any way to speed up the dissolving of it? Should I just leave it alone?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Absorbable sutures takes around sixty days for complete dissolution. As of nothing much to do and just leave it alone to heal by itself. If there is any signs of infection, you can apply antibiotic ointment.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
