Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on Lotensin Brand only 20mg once a day for 15+ years. I have tried Lotensin Generics, but they keep BP190/106! Not a good plan! When I tried to get a refill, I was told that the manufacturer stopped making the Brand Lotensin.! Since only the Brand Lotensin works well for me what do I do now! We have called pharmacies locally and internationally and they all say the same thing: The manufacturer has stopped making Lotensin Brand! I have been on several other BP meds-none worked as well as the Lotensin 10 mg QD. So what do you say now??? I need your help, please!
Enalapril or Lisinopril are effective alternatives. Lotensin (Benazepril) is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor commonly prescribed for the treatment of hypertension. If it is not available you may switch over to other ACE-inhibitors such as enalapril or lisinopril which can be given along or along with thiazide or calcium channel blockers for the effective control of high blood pressure.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
