Is There An Alternative For Inderal LA Taken For Arrhythmia?
I have been using Inderral LA dosage 80 mg once a day for the past 4 years. The drug was prescribed for an extra heart beat that would come and go at random sometimes quite severe, almost like an arrthymia.
The drug wokred well in controlling this arrythmia. The pharmicist told me that they have discontinued manufacturing the drug. What would you suugest as an alternative. My blood presurre has always been normal to low. I would like your expertise and advise on this. Thank you.
Hi, Propranolol or Inderal is one of the older medicines that was used previously for treatment of "extra heart beats". These medicines called "beta blockers" slowed down the heart and prevented extra beats. While I am not familiar with the exact kind of heart "arrhythmia" (i.e. irregular heart beat) that you had, most cases we prescribe one of the newer medicines particularly Metoprolol or Carvedilol. Since these medicines affect your heart rate and blood pressure, I recommend that you see a general practitioner or cardiologist to discuss about changing you to one of the newer "beta blockers".
Please let me know if that was helpful. If it was, please take a moment to provide a rating. Thanks!
