Is There An Alternative For Tavor And Mogadon To Treat Insomnia?

When I lived in Italy for several years I suffered from insomnia. Dr, prescribed TAVOR 2.0 and Mogadan, Worked well. Is there an equivalent here in the U.S. that I can talk with my doctor about? Would these drugs be considered too extreme/powerful in the U.S.?

Hello,

Those drugs both belong to the same benzodiazepine class. Tavor's active ingredient is lorazepam, it is very commonly used, in the US it is under the brand name of Ativan. Mogadon is a brand name for nitrazepam. I don't think it is sold in the US though, not as widely spread as lorazepam.

As for how they are viewed (in the US and in Italy) depends on the type of use. They may be used for short periods of time 2-4 weeks. However, they are not advised to be used for long periods because they create dependence and tolerance as well as affecting cognitive functions. For longer-term use, other alternatives are preferred.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
