Is There Any Effect Of Oxycodone When Trying For Pregnancy?
Hi I'm 43 years old and my Wife had been thinking of maybe having another baby. I've been taking ocycodone 10-325 and a muscle relaxant called some 350mg to be exact for about 5 years due to chronic back pain. Would these drug effect in anyway to get my wife pregnant, and it would they effect the baby in any way.
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Oxycodone is an opioid analgesic drug and the drug is used in a number of chronic pain conditions. There are no detailed research studies available that can label oxycodone as cause of reduced fertility. So in my opinion the drug doesn't effect in anyway to get your wife pregnant. But as this is an opioid drug it should be avoided in pregnancy because this may cause dependence in baby and baby may face withdrawal symptoms after birth. It has potential to cause defects in developing foetus. Please consult her attending doctor for details and for alternative treatment of her pain.
