Is There Any Home Remedy For Treating Severe Itching Of Vulva During Pregnancy?

I am 22 weeks pregnant and have severe itching of vulva .Can i take clingen forte suppository as i read Clingen Forte should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.I also read Clotrimazole is a steroid and it is very effective medicine in itching.
In early stage ( trimester 1st & 2nd) of pregnancy this is a harmful medicine .
Are there any home remedies for itching like inserting a tampon dipped in yogurt, wont that cause BV

I am Dr Madhuri a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist and will be helping you with your queries.
I understand your concern.

Almost all medicines in modern medical science will display similar warnings. The reason is that human studies are not possible. No pregnant women would consent to test the effects of a new drug on the baby. It is unethical even for us to ask this. So every drug will display similar warnings. What comes in hand here are animal studies and data of women that had to use this drug as the risk of not using it was more.

If you are having severe itching, it indicates an infection. So please get a gynec examination and vaginal swab tested and then use a drug. Clingen is used locally and will not produce systemic effects in the body. If there is an infection and you do not get a cure, there are chances of preterm labor pains. So treatment is definitely recommended in this case. I routinely use this drug for my patients presenting with vaginitis. No adverse effects have been seen in thousand of women. I do not recommend yogurt tampons as the risk of increasing the infection is high. Yogurt, in this case, will provide an excellent medium for the offending bacteria already present in the vagina to grow.

Do not think so much. Just visit your doctor and get an examination. She will provide a drug that is safe for you and baby. Clingen is also safe locally.

I understand your concern as a mother, but nothing will happen. You are already in the second trimester and the use is local and not oral.
Take care.

Hope this satisfies your query.
