Is There Any Need Of Ventilator If Patient Is Responding To Voice?
Hi dr, my gandmaa had an accident due to which she was hospitalized. Now she is having a lots of problems. She is 83 years of age.Drs Are asking to put the ventilators today.I am against it because she is responding to voice very quickly. She somehow having the problem of low bp.but it is under control after the medicine.still they want to put her on ventilator. Sir please suggest me what can be done and do that ventilator required.
Hi . There are various factors which determines whether a patient need to be puton ventilator or not . Level of coconsciousness is one for the determinant but not the only factor that determine need for mechanical ventilation. Other condition like heart rate . blood pressure. Respiratory rate and most importantly report of arterial blood gas analysis are assessed and then a decision on ventilator is taken. So it should be decision of the doctor after assessing the patient completely. In my opinion you should not deny ventilator just because she is responding to your voice .
