Is There Any Other Suggestion Over Gabapentin For A Patient Prone To Cellulitis?

My father is prone to cellulitis and his pop has said this is due to vascular disease. The has difficulty walking and his legs have a purple look to them. He is a great deal of pain they are giving him gabapentin is there something else they should be doing.?

I am so sorry to hear about what your father is going through. I understand how difficult this can be for you as well. If he has vascular problems, I will suggest that the doctors look into the possibility of doing a possible vascular intervention to ameliorate blood delivery to these peripheral organs. Gabapentin is good for the pain associated with the nerves but does nothing to ameliorate the blood flow and prevent recurrent cellulitis episodes. Is he hypertensive, diabetic, smokes, etc? These are all details we need to know and address accordingly . Also, he should exercise often to ameliorate blood flow to these organs.
