Is There Any Problem In Changing From Simvastatin To Atorvastatin?
I have been taking Simvastatin since I was 66 years of age.I am now 70.I have had no side effects. My Doctor has suggested that I change onto Atorvastatin.I have heard that there have been recalls on this statin. My Doctor says that Atorvastatin is a superior statin.Need I be concerned to change from simvastatin?
ya that's nice opinion given by your doctor. It is better to switch to atorvastatin as it is well clinically tested drug as it is used most commonly. Though there are not significant difference in the side effect profile of the both drugs. As in western countries the cost of simvastatin has reduced so that it has been prescribed as fist line drug otherwise there is no added benifit of it. So Me too of the same opinion as your doctor.
