Prolactin is an immunostimulatory hormone and has been implicated in the pathogenesis of different autoimmune diseases like pemphigus vulgaris. The serum levels of prolactin have been reported to be higher than normal in patients with pemphigus vulgaris; in this report, 6 out of 24 patients with pemphigus vulgaris had hypperprolactinemia.
