Is There Any Requirement Of Having More Medicines For Treating Copd At An Age Of 75 ?
hello sir, my grand father of age,75 was severely suffering from copd from last one month..his copd % was 25-50.please suggest him medication .currently he is using AB phylline, seroflo, telekast l..still any more medicines are needed?please suggest.
First and foremost, he should stop smoking if he is a smoker. He has severe restriction of his lung capacity thus he should take inhalers like seroflo, asthalin and tiatropium regularly besides AB phylline. During exacerbations of symptoms a short course of antibiotics and oral steroids will help. Deep breathing exercises and chest physiotherapy will also benefit him greatly. He may require domiciliary oxygen therapy or a machine called CPAP/BIPAP to ease his breathing.
30-50% comes under severe copd, he is on good medication but may require to take tiotropium also.
Pl check his blood gases to know the need for oxygen requirement.
