Is There Interaction Between Dye Used During CT Scan And Metformin?
I am scheduled to have a cat scan with dye on my neck on 6/17/2010 to see if surgery is necessary to remove a lump.
I am concerned about interaction problems between the dye that will be used during this cat scan and any or all of the following medicines I am currently taking:
Metformin
Glyburide
Actos
If there is a contradiction how many hours before I have the cat scan should I stop taking these medicines?
Also how many hours after the cat scan can I resume taking them after my blood is tested for creatine and analyzed by my primary physician?
My physician's office (his nurse) is telling me to not take the metformin the day of the cat scan and that there is no problem with continuing to take the Glyburide and Actos.
They are also telling me I can start taking them immediately after the scan scan.
I have read on the internet on WWW.WWWW.WW that I should stop taking them 48 hours before the cat scan and wait for 48 hours after the cat scan to resume taking them after my blood results have been analyzed by my primary physician.
Hi, dear. I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Glyburide and actos has no any interaction with dye used in cat scan. So you can continue with that. Avoid metformin before 24 hours. You can take it after starting your food. You can take it immediately after procedure. No need to wait for 48 hours. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health. Don't forget to click thank you.
