Is Thinning Of The Artery Walls A Heredity Condition?
My husband had a heart attack a few yrs. ago at age 63 and while in recovery he had a significant blood clot in his leg below the knee. He recovered fairly well after both incidents but since has developed circulatory issues in his legs and now a significant bulge in his abdominal area. Our GP and cardiologist indicated that he may have a hereditary issue related to thin artery walls... possibly a genetic disorder. His GP indicated that his symptoms show that this latter bulge is in the red zone and he has ordered an ultrasound to determine the severity of his current condition. We have two sons in their latter 30 s... I am interested in understanding my husbands likely condition and whether this is a hereditic condition...
Sometimes systemic vasculitis or weak vessels or inflammation of vessels walls can cause such disorders and cause may be genetic or acquired. A baseline vasculitis profile or auto immune work up with ANA and inflammatory markers may be needed and vascular surgeon or Rheumatologist review may be needed.
Wishing him a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
